Lianna & Connor | August 10th | The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa
From the bride: The inspiration for our wedding was the natural beauty of Colorado combined with fun and bright summer colors.
While the guests were shuttled back to the Westin for cocktail hour on the patio, Connor and I got to really embrace the idea of being newlyweds, as just the two of us rode up the Centennial Express chairlift to take photos at the top of Beaver Creek Mountain. We really appreciated this opportunity to spend this time together; it almost felt like we were able to slow the pace of the day before everything moved in a fast forward pace at the reception.
Our one major DIY project was our escort card display and we were so proud of the way it turned out. We bought the wood and paint from Home Depot and then we found wood letters at Michaels and painted those to coordinate with our wedding colors. The hardest part was finding the perfect size clips to hold the cards.
We tried to bring a part of nature inside by including trees with flower buds placed around the perimeter of the room. We kept the table décor simple with a single orchid plant sitting on top of a wood slice and we added lace to the burlap table runner.
We both have quite the sweet tooth and so our cake topper may have been our favorite detail. We enjoy giving each other cards for special occasions and we don’t quite remember who started this tradition, but at the end of every card before the signature, we say “forever and always.” The cake topper was custom made to represent this tradition.
My advice: Don’t let planning a wedding consume your life. Still enjoy and appreciate the small events that happen leading up to the big day! Definitely go on dates where you don’t talk about anything related to wedding planning.
