Kate & Tobe | August 11th | Creede, Colorado
From the bride, Kate:
We got married on the ranch were we met and fell in love, 4UR Ranch.
Photography by Captivated Studio
My wedding inspiration came from Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton’s wedding. I am not a pink lover, but I absolutely loved how the subtle touch of pink in Miranda’s Bridal party made the outfits look a little more girly and a little less ranchy. Brown is actually my favorite color, and I wanted to incorporate it into the wedding color scheme.
The boutonnieres had feathers, burlap, flowers and jute.
The ceremony location was in a meadow at 9,000 feet overlooking the 4UR valley next to Goose Creek.
We were fortunate enough to be able to spend about 4 hours with our photographers between the ceremony and reception. The whole bridal party went up to the National Forest next to the ranch where many of us had spent time after work watching sunsets. We had a picnic lunch then went hiking around to cliffs, meadows, memorable spots to take pictures. Everyone really loved the photo shoot!
I really wanted to do something really fun and very ‘me’ as my ceremony dress was pretty traditional. Tobe and I spent many summer nights in Colorado two steppin the night away to live music. There was no way i wasn’t going to cut a rug at my own party! A short dress was definitely a necessity! I found the feather dress at David’s bridal but wanted to Jazz it up with a belt. After months of searching, I found the western belt at Boot Barn and loved how it had rhinestones, so when we danced it would sparkle. The white and black cowhide meshed well with my white dress and black reception boots.
The reception was held in “The Cave” at the Creede Community Center. Creede is an old mining town that has old mines and mines currently in use all over the area. The “Cave” where we held the reception was literally in the side of a mountain.
The best part about the wedding was sharing our day and the ranch we love with all of our family and friends.
My advice: When you are planning your wedding, always make sure you are making the wedding YOURS. It should be up to you and your fiance as to how you want to day to be. Finances aside, if you don’t feel right about a decision when you make it, you are never going to feel good about it up until the day of – so if you aren’t comfortable with it in the beginning, figure out how to do it differently, so that you and your fiance are both 100% happy. Planning your wedding should be exciting, and if you aren’t having fun, figure out what you need to do to make it fun!
