An Urban Chic Wedding in Denver
Jillian & Shawn | September 5th | Denver, Colorado
From the bride: Our wedding was very us. The location was us, the music was us, the cake was us. We chose a color palette of deep teal with orange accents (Shawn’s favorite color). Orange socks for the groomsmen, orange toenails for the ladies, orange Calla Lilies, and an orange cake. Our inspiration was the Denver downtown area, cocktail parties, classic looks and décor.
The ceremony was on the roof of the Westin downtown with a beautiful view of the city as well as the mountains in the distance.
The weather started out cloudy, but as we were exchanging vows the sun peaked out of the clouds, almost on cue, and lit the entire wedding party. We did a wine blending ceremony. Our officiant did a wonderful job of verbalizing the significance of the blending of the different wines to symbolize the joining of our lives.
Looking back, I would have done a first look and had pictures taken before the ceremony instead of during cocktail hour. It was a bit rushed and I would have liked that time to spend with our guests.
My most memorable moment was our first dance. My advice: Enjoy the ride and don’t get too stressed out. Everything turns out in the end!
