Colorado Mountain Casual at the Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park
Ali & Chris | September 27th | The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park
From the bride: We chose Evergreen because we love the mountains and wanted the wedding weekend to be laid back and as outdoorsy as possible, but we also wanted to be near Denver, due to a number of guests flying in for the weekend.
Chris and I are avid hikers, campers, skiers, and snowboarders. We’re both down-to-earth people who didn’t want anything over-the-top. However, we wanted it to remain formal enough to feel like a wedding.
My wedding dress was more than twice what I budgeted! I never thought I’d do that, but I loved it!
We held the reception at The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park. The weather and location were beautiful. We had a cocktail hour, which Chris and I made sure we participated in. That’s why we had a first look and took all our photos beforehand. We wanted to make sure we were there with our guests since they made the effort to be there for us.
We decided that our escort cards would be small envelopes with each person or couple’s name and table number on it, with a personal note to that person or couple inside. Chris and I spent way more time than we should have to personalize each note, but it was one way we could make each person—especially those who dedicated time and money to traveling to Colorado—to feel special and loved, even if we didn’t get to see them a lot throughout the wedding day.
My mom decorated the barn with ferns and plants. We wanted it to seem very “woodsy” without getting too rustic. The barn’s stained glass windows and elk antler chandelier definitely added to the atmosphere.
Our favors were Blue Spruce seedlings from Nurseymen.com.
My advice:
-Pick your date, book your venue and hire your photographer ASAP. They book up quickly.
-Do not save all the DIY projects until the week before the wedding! I waited until my mom got in town to help me and we spent way too much time preparing those things.
-If you work full-time and your family is from out-of-town, hire a planner! My mom and I wish we had a person, other than us, to lead the way and let us know we were doing things correctly.
