From the Magazine: Destination Crested Butte Mountain Resort

From the bride: I have been visiting Crested Butte since I was a young girl, and have always had a special place in my heart for the town. I knew I wanted a destination and an outdoor wedding in Crested Butte. My husband and I are both very laid back people, so we wanted the wedding to be simple and classic, and we didn’t want to fight with the natural beauty of Crested Butte. While the day was about us, we also worked hard to make it about all the people that came to celebrate with us.
Our ceremony was held on the deck at Uley’s Cabin, under an arch made from two aspen trees. I am really not one to like attention, but I enjoyed my walk down the aisle with my dad, as nervous as I was, it was beautiful and calm. We kept the ceremony short and sweet (and shorter and sweeter than planned thanks to Mother Nature).
The reception was under the tent on the lawn of Uley’s Cabin and the rain really made it special since it kept everyone together. The tent was lined with ivory draping and lights. Varying sizes of prelight twig balls hung from the ceiling. The linens were all ivory, and the flowers were a mix of white, blue and green, in varying mercury glass and green glass vases. I had to reassure my father about the necessity of all the draping and lighting in the tent during the planning/budgeting process, and when it poured all evening, it was really wonderful to have spent that little extra money on the décor of the tent since it was where everyone spent the evening.
Looking back, I think between the rain, the band, and just the quirkiness that Crested Butte gives people, it was a really fun evening, and fit our hopes to a tee! Most people stayed until the last buses left.
