Abby & Kevin | October 30th | Devil’s Thumb Ranch
From the bride, Abbby:
Although a storm had come through a few days before leaving a blanket of snow, on our day, the weather was beautiful, crisp and clear – the perfect fall day!.
Our golden retriever, Keia, walked down the aisle as a bridesmaid. As I walked down the aisle to meet Kevin for the ceremony, we had the barn doors behind us opened which flooded the room with light. We went with a non-traditional ceremony that we wrote ourselves. Our goal was to put something together that was unique, but also entertaining for everyone. Our officiant was Kevin’s father, which added a personal flavor to the event.
Our favorite part was the shared beer during the ceremony! Instead of the traditional candle or wine, we wanted to share something that we both would enjoy and was something we do in our everyday lives – hence, we shared a beer. We put a Polaroid camera out next to the guest book, which provided us with a great picture of what really happened during the evening. The escort cards were displayed on large aspen tree branches. The reception was pretty low-key and a lot of fun. Dinner was tasty and followed by an ice-cream sundae bar in place of a cake. The rest of the night was dancing to classic rock and some originals from the band. Neither of us are great dancers, so after the “official” dances we got to go outside and dance by ourselves.
Honeymoon Location: Patagonia, Chile (hiking, wine, and penguins – can’t lose!)
