Casual in Estes Park

From the bride, Shelby:

We both grew up in Oklahoma and from the beginning, we knew that this was not where we wanted to get married. Our first trip together was to Colorado to go snowboarding, so it seemed like the right place, and it was, our whole weekend was perfect!

I graduated from Oklahoma State University and Cody is a huge OU fan. Since our disagreement about which college we like is one of the only things we fight about I surprised him by wearing orange shoes (my school’s color)and on the bottom they said: “Orange” on one and “Power” on the other. Then when it was time for the garter toss, I surprised him by wearing an OSU garter as well! He didn’t think it was nearly as funny as I did!

-My “Something Old” was my grandmother’s wedding ring – it was very special for the both of us.

-I had 4 men that are like 2nd fathers to me walk me part of the way before giving me to my dad for the grand entrance. This was also very special because none of them have daughters of their own. It meant the world to have them be a part of the day!! We got them all orange western shirts and let them wear boots and jeans with their cowboy hats because that is who they are and I wanted the day to be a reflection of who everyone really is!

-After the cocktail hour we asked our guests to come inside for a buffet-style meal – our main focus for our reception was to be sure it was a celebration and because we were not the typical bride and groom our choice for the meal was gourmet hamburgers and hotdogs, macaroni and cheese, and a French fry bar. It was a hit!

-For the bouquet toss we had the florist make the throwaway bouquet up of 6 smaller bouquets, it was very cool when I tossed it because they separated and several girls caught one. I wrote a note on each one to thank them for making the long drive!

My husband has an 8-year-old daughter that wanted to sing at the reception as a gift to her daddy and I. She sang Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.” During this she got a little stage fright, so Cody (my husband) and I joined her. There was not a dry eye in the house!!!
