Melissa & Jon  |  September 24th  | Durango, Colorado

From the bride, Melissa:
It was a perfect Colorado fall day. We were surrounded by blue skies and towering trees in shades of red, yellow and orange.  The mountain backdrop was surreal!  My mom walked me down the aisle to my future husband; it was very special to have the person who has always been there for me walk me to the man who will be there for me for the rest of my life.  John was in instant tears when he saw me coming towards him down the aisle, (he later said he was in awe of how beautiful I looked).  We wrote our own vows and put together a unity cross during the ceremony; it was very important to us to have a symbol of unity through God.

Durango Mountain ResortWe made all the bouquets and boutonnieres for the bridal party which added a special touch to our day.  Pictures of my grandfather and the groom’s father were attached to my bouquet. Instead of corsages, we made
special lockets for our mothers and my grandmother.

FAVORITE DETAILS
I really loved my dress, the black sash and my veil.  And I loved John’s lime green converse shoes with ‘Married Man’ written on the side!

ADVICE
Just focus on the fun.  Planning a wedding should be fun, not torture.  If you are getting too worked up over things, step back, relax and remember the real reason for the day.
