From the bride, Crispin:
Our wedding was intimate, warm and simple. We really wanted the focus to be on the importance of our vows, and having our family and dear friends with us for a festive and laid-back weekend. We chose Colorado so our grandparents wouldn’t have to travel to California. Redstone, Colorado, is a beautiful history-rich small community, which helped us create an insulated, private destination gathering. The Redstone Inn was large enough to accommodate all our guests and the rooms, venue, food and beverage costs were very reasonable.
Forty of our closest family and friends witnessed our vows on the lawn of the Redstone Inn. Wayne’s best friend was our officiant. We took a horse drawn carriage ride after the ceremony and enjoyed a moment together before returning to the Inn.
-We made a retrospective slide show with photos of us growing up, and also photos of us with our guests. Everyone got a little reminiscent seeing themselves on the screen. It led to great stories around the room.
-We also had a Polaroid guestbook instead of a traditional one. Everyone took a picture during the evening and wrote a message on their page.
-Wayne’s grandparents hosted a breakfast the following morning, which was a lovely way to thank everyone for coming.
Keep it simple, write great vows, surround yourselves with loved ones, and leave more of the budget for the honeymoon!
