Melissa & John | June 6, 2015 | Dillon, Colorado
From the bride: Our wedding style was laid-back, outdoor, rustic and country. My husband and I are extreme outdoorsmen and we are very much into everything country as far as our lifestyle goes. We are as laid-back as they come and were looking for everyone to be able to relax and enjoy themselves during our celebration.
I painted lyrics from a special song on slabs of wood to line the aisle.
We had gone back and forth on our decision to have the ceremony on the water or under the pavilion as the weather predicted possible rain. Of course, as I was walking down the aisle, it was gorgeous outside with the sun shining and clear skies, and I was regretting our decision. Until a quarter of the way through the ceremony, we hear the rain start to pour and my husband and I look at each other with the biggest of smiles like – yep our decision paid off.
John and I aren’t the greatest of dancers to begin with – including not knowing how to slow dance more than just in circles. During our first dance, John kept stepping on my dress because we danced in circles, so whenever we would turn I would have to noticeably kick my dress out of the way and all our friends and family enjoyed the giggle.
My advice: You really do have to remember that although you want your wedding day to be perfect, the only thing that matters is the two of you getting to celebrate with your family and friends. If it pours rain during your outdoor wedding, you still have him and he has you, just because it wasn’t your “perfect” vision – you still get something better than just a “perfect” moment or day, you get a perfect life.
