New Year's Eve Wedding

Shaunes & Brian | December 31st | Colorado Springs, Colorado

From the bride:
Celebrating the start of a New Year and our new marriage being surrounded by our family and friends was the best day of our lives. We wanted to bring our love of the outdoors and mountains into our special day, but trying to persuade everyone out to the mountains from the flat plains of Illinois during the holiday season was difficult.  Thankfully a welcomed snowfall provided the perfect backdrop for our special day and made everything cozier.

I wanted warmth spread to all the details of our wedding.  So I wore snow boots while outside (a surprise to my husband) and I gave each of my bridesmaids colorful gloves as part of their thank you presents. We decided to see each other before the ceremony so that we could take advantage of the scenery and outdoor light before the early winter sunset.  We set up for our first look outside at the bottom of a stone staircase set in the courtyard of the castle on the estate of the Glen Eyrie.  Waiting in anticipation to see one another was so difficult but at least our minds weren’t occupied on the cold and on each other. Our ceremony was set in front a huge hearth in the Great Room, it was small and intimate but we felt all the love that was radiating from all that we loved.  Since many of our family and friends couldn’t make it, we asked out DJ to set up a live stream so that those back home could feel apart of the ceremony as well. Our officiant was a close friend who helped us focus on our union in front of God and those that we care for most.  As the evening continued on we moved from our wedding ceremony to the New Years Eve party by celebrating New York, Chicago and then Colorado’s midnight.  Each one with horns, hats, balloons and other festive accessories.  We were even lucky enough to stream each cities countdown and ring in the New Year with many kisses and well wishes.  At the stroke of midnight in Colorado we ended our amazing day with many good byes.We decorated with icy pinecones and delicate snowflakes and gave hot chocolate gifts to each of our guests.
