We adore so many things about this wedding, from the outdoor ceremony with a mountain backdrop to the royal blue and lime color palette, but the one detail that really stands out… could this couple be any happier… their love for one another is so obvious and that’s what this day is all about, LOVE!

The original inspiration from this shoot came from the car that I found, a Karmann Ghia. Some local friends owned the car and allowed us to use it. Instead of placing the car in a typical scene, I wanted more nature as if the couple was going for a ride. It was a fun shoot, and Emily and Kevin had a lot of their own ideas. We explored Cherry Creek State Park, and what originally was a few concept photographs with the car turned into an adventure. We found the small beach in the park and Emily was very excited to take photos by the water. As the sun was setting, it made the perfect backdrop for a couple’s shoot. Emily and Kevin are head over heals in love. I loved getting to watch their giggles and inside jokes as I photographed them. They were so comfortable with each other that it made for an amazing shoot.

Our color palette was comprised of a combination of textures with muted natural colors (browns, bronzes and white combined with wood and glass elements).

The entrance into the dining hall – in which we were greeted with bells and ribbons in reverse send off fashion added an element of whimsy.

The night was filled with plenty of laughter and even more love.

The beautiful setting of the dining hall surrounded by the flatirons provided the perfect mixture of elegance and intimacy.

Pete and I grew up in Maine. Our families all knew each other and Pete and I knew each other in High School but never dated. Just friends.  He got married and moved to North Carolina. And I got married then moved to San Diego.  We both went through divorces. Then years later I got a friend request on Facebook from him.  We had not spoke to one another in over twenty years. From that day on, we spoke every day, then decided to move to Colorado together, and got engaged. It has been quite an amazing journey. It is so funny that the one person we have each been looking for….. we knew our whole lives! Favorite detail: My COWBOY BOOTS from Corral Boots. Elk had came down from the mountains and were grazing right next to our ceremony site! Our ceremony was very small and intimate.  We had a sand ceremony that included our two sons. Memorable Moment: When I walked down the aisle with my Dad, the sun came out from behind the clouds. We wanted a personalized ceremony so we wrote our own vows and kept them a secret until our wedding day.  Our golden retriever, Bailie, was our ring bearer. It was amazing to have our friends and family come together from all over the country for our special day.  A lot of our friends and family were upset when Brad and I decided to move out to Colorado, but once they saw how gorgeous it is here and how happy we are here, they understood and are already hoping to come back soon for a visit.It was so wonderful during our first dance to look up and see the faces of our family and friends looking down on us. We decided to have an intimate celebration of our commitment to each other.  We also wanted to be outside in a natural setting among the pines. We wanted our families to have fun and have a reunion type feel. The day was beautiful, sunny, and the perfect temperature.  We privately shared our personal vows to each other before the ceremony.Every guest got to release a butterfly during the ceremony too while Doug and I released ours.
