Intimate Moroccan Wedding Inspiration

From the photographer, McKenzie Coyle Photography: Shot in the majestic red rocks of Colorado, this intimate and romantic shoot had a decidedly Moroccan feel. The neutral mountain landscape contrasted with the vibrant florals, layers of soft textiles, and mixed metallics all combined to make the perfect secluded paradise. Seductive candlelight and the fading stormy weather gave the evening a cozy and sensual feel. We love the distinction of the traditional Moroccan theme juxtaposed with modern decor and design elements to give this look a timeless appeal.

Styled Shoot: You Are My Happy

From the photographer, Kari Geha Photography: This may be a styled shoot, but this couple is a real life couple and are adorably sweet together. Victor is also a photographer and met his muse, Jessica, on a shoot. The two compliment each other so well. While I would be taking his individual portraits, I would catch him looking over my shoulder and smiling. I would look back, and of course, he was swooning over her. She would be giggling. It was the sweetest of interactions between these two!

New Orleans Inspired Style

From the planner, Ashley Kidder of Uptown Planning: Planning this shoot has always been a dream of mine. I’ve spent time in New Orleans and have always appreciated its exuberant culture, history and way of life. For our color palette, we started with the traditional Mardi Gras colors — vibrant red, green, purple and yellow — but slowly morphed them into bolder, more subdued colors — eggplant, maroon, goldenrod and forest green. We were also lucky enough to have a little snow on the ground, which I feel added to the cozy wintertime feel of the shoot.

From the photographer, Kyla Fear of Fearless Photography: When Ashley brought this idea to me I jumped right on it because it was a styled wedding designed with a glamorous edge. Uptown Planning did an extraordinary job pulling together all the pieces to bring about a deep but colorful palette to the overall look. I wanted to add a nostalgic film-inspired touch with my editing to bring out the richness that Ashley set out to create. I also wanted to bring a bit of a romantic, airy feeling to the images and shot wide open for most of the day. I have to admit that my favorite pieces were the fun voodoo elements that we brought in, including the cookies and the fortune teller. If I were getting married all over again, I would have that hair! Every single vendor involved in this really outdid themselves and it was so wonderful to capture all those pieces and put it together for an edgy but romantic wedding for couples looking for a way to less traditional themes into their big day.

From the floral designer, Sarah of Ladybird Poppy: I loved being apart of this styled shoot. I enjoy designing with rich and warm hues and this New Orleans shoot was perfect to allow the creative juices to flow. Ashley created a beautiful mood board for us to peek at, which inspired me to grab rich floral to set the mood. The burgundy peonies were a perfect find to tie the floral together.

From the stylist, Heather Okimoto of 321 Chic: The inspiration behind the wardrobing started with a recent trip to New Orleans. The city and streets are adorned with soft delicate details forged in strong materials like iron. There’s a dark and rich history, but also a softness and community that continue to thrive. The liveliness and spirit of Mardi Gras is still alive and well and creating an elegantly wardrobed wedding party became my mission.

Uniting the details seen in New Orleans began with the bridal fitting at Emma and Grace Bridal in the RiNo neighborhood of Denver. During the fitting we layered a champagne silk sash under an indulgent rhinestone belt that was wrapped with a subdued taupe tulle softening the sharpness of the stones. The look was richly finished with a vintage fur that draped over the intricate lace detailed dress. For the bridesmaids, I styled a wearable look with Mardi Gras celebratory details. Hand-cut paper masks and a bridal headpiece were designed and created by the ever-so-talented Shannon Faber. Gold flecked accordion party dresses from the Denver Street Boutique with custom boa & feather detailed belts created an elegant celebratory look that complimented the bride’s delicate lace gown. Deep jewel toned sapphire and emerald necklaces from local Denver designer, Abby Sparks, adorned our bridesmaids and are great thank-you gifts. Mardi Grad inspired colors and patters are carried through the men’s tie’s that compliment the handsome suits provided by The Garment District.

From the planner, Ashley Kidder of Uptown Planning: For the desserts + cuisine, we focused on items that were local to New Orleans or crafted there. We selected chicory coffee from Café du Monde, Abita Root Beer, which is made with Louisiana cane sugar, southern-style pralines, a traditional southern pecan pie and oysters on the half shell.

From the planner, Ashley Kidder of Uptown Planning: Our gingerbread cookies were inspired by the voodoo culture of New Orleans, and we enjoyed using these cookies to put a playful spin on the dessert table.

From hair stylists, Hallie Adrian Hair & Ramón Corro Hair: Hair for this shoot was all about accentuating traditional bridal. Ramón and I made these looks it a bit more vintage and moody to help bring the concept together. Texture also plaid a big role in this hair concept.

Most weddings offer a more traditional form of entertainment for their guests, a photo booth, for example. We decided to use a fortune teller/tarot card reader as the form of entertainment for this shoot.
