A Winter Destination Wedding in Breckenridge

From the bride, Shannon:
We live in New Orleans but all of our family/friends are back in Wisconsin & Minnesota so we decided a smaller destination wedding was our best option. We love the mountains and knew we wanted a snowy winter wedding. We love to ski/snowboard but wanted a location that had a variety of activities for our friends/family that don’t ski.

My favorite memory was walking down the aisle to Donny.

We had garland and candles over the mantel in the foyer.

For our wedding favors, my sister and I hand dipped pinecones in wax to create pinecone fire starters.

Instead of having a guestbook, we had our friends/family sign some vintage snow skis.

My favorite decorations were the gold picture frames with love quotes on each table because Donny and I picked the quotes out together.

Looking back, I was a nervous wreck leading up to it the wedding and I wish I would have just relaxed cause everything turned out great and we had the most amazing wedding day, but nothing compares to being married to your soulmate.

A Traditional Hindu Wedding in Crested Butte

Crested Butte was the destination location for Chicago residents Geeta and Adarsh.  The couple wanted a traditional Hindu religious ceremony against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and nature.  They both wanted their friends and family to not only share in the joy of them embarking on their marriage, but also spend the week in a glorious unique setting exploring and making their own memories. What better choice than Crested Butte!

A Magical Mountain Wedding

From the bride, Stephanie:

THE INSPIRATION
We were fully inspired by the mountains! We love being deep in the woods and wanted to share that magical experience with our guests! Our colors were navy blue and tan, and our decor was a lot of wood pieces and candles, creating the romantic woodland fairytale we envisioned. Almost everything in our wedding was made by my mom! THE CEREMONY
We wanted the ceremony to completely reflect us, and our love. We both wrote our own vows in very special locations a week prior, and the day of the wedding our officiant had them printed into a binder so that we could read them to each other while he held it up.

As Leon announced us husband and wife, the wind began to blow, and my veil wrapped around our heads as we kissed for the first time! It was so adorable!

A Magical Mountain Wedding in Colorado

We had already told our photographer, Katie, and the wedding party that we were going to take a few minutes alone right after the ceremony. This was one of the greatest moments of the night! Before seeing anyone else, we got to enjoy time together for the very first time as a married couple! We cried like crazy, and kissed and hugged! But most importantly we got a chance to be together, alone!

LOOKING BACK
I am so thankful that we had two years to plan our wedding. It seems so long, but in the end, it was worth it! Taking the time to really make each detail the way we wanted, while also having the time to realize what we don’t actually need. So many things go in and out of style, watching my Pinterest feed change so often made me truly discover what I loved most, and what was a trend I was trying to follow.

ADVICE
Make a list of what is actually important to you, and stick to it. An open bar and great food matter a lot to us, so that is where we spent the money. If it looks and feels the way YOU want it to, you nailed it!

A Mountain Destination Wedding at the Silverthorne Pavilion

From the bride, Heidi:

WHY COLORADO: I spent a lot of time in the Silverthorne area growing up during ski season and in Breckenridge in the summers. Mac took a trip to the area with friends in college and it’s where he fell in love with mountains. It was great to find a location that had sentimental meaning for both of us.A Mountain Destination Wedding at the Silverthorne Pavilion

THE STYLE: I wanted to compliment the beauty of Colorado and the mountains with a lot of natural colors and tons of plant greenery because I love plants. I also just wanted a timeless look; something that would be beautiful for years and years.

A Mountain Destination Wedding at the Silverthorne Pavilion

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: I really loved our first look. It was exciting and also calming to see Mac for the first time. I feel like it broke the ice and allowed me to just relax and enjoy the whole day.

THE CEREMONY: Our ceremony was held in a field with the gorgeous Rocky Mountains as our backdrop, big open sky, and lots of trees; the location really felt secluded.  The aisles were decorated with tree rounds cut to various heights with lanterns on top. Mac’s dad married us and gave a wonderful message. Every part of the ceremony just felt so personal.

FUN MEMORY: On our walk down the aisle as a newly married couple Mac stopped and kissed me and then carried me the rest of the way. That was pretty cute and got a nice crowd reaction.

THE RECEPTION: We had the reception was at the Silverthorne Pavilion, which is already beautiful. All we did was decorate each guest table with ivory tablecloths, trailing greenery, lanterns, and  candles.

THE CAKEI loved our cake, which was decorated with a mountain and tree outline. It tasted SO good! I had my brother bring me a few extra pieces after we’d made our exit because I wanted to eat more!

ADVICE: It’s possible to have a really amazing and perfect day with a short period of planning. We got engaged in February and married in July and we were able to get everything done and set up in a relatively short period of time. We were just so excited about being married and the wedding is only one day. Don’t get me wrong it’s the BEST day, but I think it’s just as important to plan and get excited for the marriage as it is for the wedding.

Also, I recommend having a social time prior to the wedding, especially if you have a lot of out-of-town guests (or you yourself are coming from out of town). We opened a period of time after our rehearsal dinner to invite anyone who was around to come hang out. It just took a lot of the stress off the wedding day because people already had some time to mingle with us. Mac and I didn’t feel like we were being bombarded with people at the wedding.

A Garden Wedding at Flying Dog Ranch

From the bride, Laura: It was a beautiful September day in the Roaring Fork Valley without a cloud in the sky and a comfortable 70 degrees. The garden at Flying Dog Ranch was perfectly manicured with an array of natural colors and flowers. Guests enjoyed cocktails and a breathtaking view of Mt. Sopris and the valley while they waited for the ceremony to begin.

THE CEREMONY: The wedding party walked into “Good Day Sunshine” by the Beatles and I walked in with “Her Comes the Sun” by the Beatles (pretty appropriate for the day). The ceremony was held around the pond and was only about 8 minutes long.

We had lawn games setup around the garden for everyone to enjoy including a game called “Kan Jam” which incorporated throwing a frisbee which is how we met, playing ultimate frisbee.

THE FAVORS: We did our own photo booth. I bought a polaroid camera, props, and let people go nuts in our DIY photo booth. Everyone loved it. The photos along with a mini tree photo holder were their party gifts.
