Rustic DIY Wedding

Abby & Kyle  |  May 27, 2011   |  Parker, Colorado

Bright orange striped ribbon and polka dot fabric were weaved into every detail of this country-style wedding.  A release of orange balloons after the “I do’s” colored the blue afternoon sky.  The bride seamlessly carried the orange color palette from the ceremony to the cocktails to the reception decor.  We especially love the DIY escort cards, the use of actual oranges in both the table numbers and centerpieces and the dessert bar filled with homemade pies and cookies. This is a great example of a budget-friendly DIY wedding that resulted in an amazingly colorful decor scheme.

Inspiration Board: Mango Tango

This week’s color board is oh-so-colorful!  If you want bright and bold, this combination of vibrant orange is sure to please.  Add a pop of red, yellow, pink or blue for contrast and you’ll have a gorgeous Summer or Fall palette.

Colorful & DIY in Golden

Photography by Dawn Sparks Photography

From  the bride: Allie:
We got married on a Sunday, so we made our wedding a weekend affair.  It was so nice to be able to spend that extra time with our families and out of town guests!  We started on Friday with the rehearsal at our venue. On Saturday, we rented out some pavilions at a local park and had a casual pre-wedding barbeque.  And then Sunday was our big day!

Our centerpieces were a collection of both tall and short arrangements.  The tall arrangement had Granny Smith apples in the vase and an array of vibrant gerbera daisies, dahlias, and circus roses.  The smaller, breakaway arrangement consisted of 3 vases; one with a Bridesmaid bouquet, another with a small collection of flowers matching the large arrangement, and the third was a vase filled with Granny Smith apples and Clementine oranges.  We used fuchsia bengaline linens with light pink satin napkins for our reception tables, and light pink crush shimmer linen for our sweetheart table with fuchsia satin napkins.  Each chair had a fuchsia satin tie on it.  Drew and I built our own cupcake stand; it was truly a labor of love!   To dress up the cupcakes, I purchased custom cupcake wrappers and toppers with cute love-sayings from Etsy. PERSONAL TOUCHES
-I handmade tickets that were placed on each table setting to let our guests know about the fun photo booth. Having those photos to look back on is awesome- they still make me crack up when I look at them!
-DIY cupcake stand, cupcake wrappers and toppers.
-Granny Smith apple escort cards with paisley leaves.
-DIY card box (made of nesting suitcases).
