An Intimate Winery Wedding in Palisade
Amy & Thomas | May 30, 2015 | Palisade, Colorado
From the bride: We wanted our wedding to feel like the warm, easy dinner parties we often host in our home – lots of amazing food and wine, laughter and good conversation among friends and family.
The ceremony was held under a large tree outdoors, with strands of string lights twinkling above our heads. Thomas’ Navy boss officiated and we included a wine unity ceremony.
We had a family blending ceremony where we presented my daughter with a personalized necklace. The entire rest of the night she told everyone happily that Thomas had married her first.
Thomas is a Lt. Commander in the Navy with 20 years of service, including a combat deployment to Iraq, and I wanted to honor his service in front of his friends and family. I surprised him with a groom’s cake made in replica of his dress white uniform cover (hat).
My advice: Early in our planning, we agreed that the most important part of our wedding was the people who would join us. Every decision we made after that was based on that priority. We chose our location for US, but we chose our caterer, baker, and design details with our guests and their experience in mind. Remember that the people are the important part: you and your fiancé, your families, friends and loved ones.
