Megan & Andrew | April 29th | Denver, Colorado

From the photographers, David & Lynn Townsend:
Drew & Meg participated in the “Hitched in the Highlands- An Urban Race to the Altar” and won! Competing couples traveled on foot and via public transportation through the Highlands neighborhoods, following clues from one checkpoint to the next. At each checkpoint, the couples were asked to complete challenges, some physical, some mental, some skill-based, and some based on teamwork. With their speed and teamwork, Drew & Meg won their entire wedding, sponsored by over 20 Denver-area wedding professionals; the winning package was valued around $30,000.00. After winning the race in February, they had only two months to plan their wedding. Revel and Bloom created race-day inspired decor for all elements of their wedding, and the details were phenomenal.

From the bride:
Winning Hitched in the Highlands 3 was incredible. Once we learned they chose us to compete, we took it very seriously and trained every night after work. We did several “test runs” before the big day! We had so much fun that day. Everything that went right did, and we managed to win. We feel truly blessed to work with such amazing vendors. They truly helped us have the wedding of our dreams.

Seeing each other for the first time was so special. We did our first look at Commons Park and it was so exciting, sweet, and wonderful.

Our officiant helped make the ceremony personal, intimate, and sweet. We even “tied the knot” with a handfasting ceremony. Our recessional was to Queen’s “Somebody to Love”.

Our grand entrance was a recreation of race day- crossing the finish line. Our guests had “Team Wise” pennants to cheer us on. The race theme was incorporated throughout, with the “Hydration Station” cocktail hour, “Race Results” table place card finder, and “First Aid Station” restrooms. We also had wooden mile markers throughout the venue.

When we did our grand entrance (Drew carrying me over the finish line), we were going around giving everyone high fives and I tripped on my dress and fell flat on my face! Not unlike any other time running since I seem to fall a lot on the trails.

We brought a lot of natural elements inside to make it feel warm.

Our favors were edible finisher’s medals.

Everything about the day felt very “us”.

We wanted our day to be fun and it really was!
